Due to a serious failure in the main water supply pipeline in the Kaštela area, Trogir and the island of Čiovo have been left without water. According to information released on Monday, August 3, 2026, by Trogir's mayor, Ante Bilić, the system is expected to return to normal only during the night hours.
Mayor Bilić confirmed that crews from the utility company Vodovod i kanalizacija Split are on the ground and working intensively to repair the fault. He called on residents to be patient and use water responsibly.
"We ask residents for their understanding and rational use of water. After the water supply is restored, there may be temporary cloudiness in the water, which is a common occurrence after such interventions," Bilić told DalmacijaDanas.
Vodovod i kanalizacija Split has appealed to all consumers in the affected area to use the available water exclusively for basic needs, such as hygiene and food preparation. All non-essential activities, including car washing and lawn watering, should be avoided until the system is fully stabilized to avoid putting additional strain on the water network.
The supply is expected to be normalized by the night hours, but authorities warn that after the water is turned back on, temporary cloudiness may occur.
