U.S. President reveals precision missile supply issues in the Oval Office, but also announces construction of new plants for Patriot and Tomahawk missiles.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday, August 6, 2026, that he believes the war with Iran will soon come to an end. Addressing reporters in the Oval Office in Washington, Trump suggested that Iran cannot hold out much longer.
"I think it will end soon. I don't think they can hold out much longer," Trump said, referring to Iran's position in the conflict that has lasted five months.
Trump's remarks come after Reuters reported on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, that the U.S. military has expended a large portion of its global stockpiles of long-range precision-guided missiles during the five-month war with Iran.
When directly asked about the status of ammunition stockpiles, the U.S. president offered a candid assessment. "We have certain types of ammunition that are very powerful, for which we have unlimited, virtually unlimited supplies. We have others where supplies are a bit more limited," Trump stated.
To address the issue of limited resources, Trump announced that U.S. defense companies are already building additional production capacity. Among these are plants for the production of Patriot and Tomahawk missiles, key components of the American military arsenal.
The war with Iran began approximately five months ago, in early March 2026, and Trump's latest remarks suggest the conflict could be nearing its end as Iran's capacity to continue fighting is depleted.
