A Renault Captur with Daruvar license plates drove into an excavation at the intersection of Vukovar Street and Savska Road, prompting a swift response from the recovery service.
Shortly before noon on Thursday, August 6, 2026, another incident involving a careless driver occurred at the intersection of Vukovar Street and Savska Road in Zagreb. A Renault Captur ended up in the dug-up tram tracks at the construction site, causing a brief halt in tram traffic.
Due to the stuck car, tram traffic was stopped for 15 minutes. Zagrebparking officials arrived on the scene with a special recovery vehicle to pull the car out. After the vehicle was successfully lifted and placed on safe ground, the driver, who had been standing nearby the whole time, approached the workers, shook their hands, and briefly said, "Thank you."
Although the car has Daruvar license plates, according to available information, a tourist was behind the wheel. This circumstance somewhat explains how the unusual accident occurred. Namely, the intersection is full of clear signs, arrows, and cones that unmistakably indicate where vehicle movement is prohibited. Despite all this, the driver evidently overlooked the warnings and ended up in the excavation.
After thanking his rescuers, the driver got into the Renault Captur and continued on his way. Soon, tram line 14 was able to resume service along Savska Road, normalizing the situation.
