The Police Directorate announced this week that officers from the Cyber Security Service of the Criminal Police Directorate have completed a criminal investigation into a 33-year-old Serbian national. According to Bug.hr, the suspect is charged with serious crimes against computer systems, programs, and data, as well as the unauthorized use of personal data.

There is reasonable suspicion that he illegally accessed the computer systems of several companies and state institutions. With court approvals, searches of premises, vehicles, and technical devices were conducted, and materials and electronic data related to the crimes were seized.

Wave of Hacks Solved

In late May and early June 2026, Croatia was hit by a wave of hacking. The website of the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy was briefly compromised, with a political-nationalist message appearing on part of the page. It was left by members of a hacking group calling itself INF Group.

During that period, the group allegedly also stole data on GNK Dinamo members. These were just the two most significant of a series of smaller security breaches with similar characteristics.

Handed Over to Remand Supervisor

The suspect was handed over to the remand supervisor on July 29, 2026, within the legal deadline. The criminal complaint has been submitted to the Zagreb County State Attorney's Office, which will carry out further proceedings.
