His body was found by a concerned neighbor on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Pastore's home on City Island in the Bronx, New York, after the actor had not been heard from for several days.
News of his death was confirmed by his representatives, and according to Deadline, Pastore's longtime manager Robert Attermann had not heard from him for three days before the body was found. A driver had last spoken with him by phone on Friday evening. The official cause of death has not yet been released - People reports that the circumstances are being investigated, while Page Six cites police sources indicating he died of natural causes.
Born on July 14, 1946, in the Bronx, Pastore grew up in an Italian-American family in New Rochelle. Before fully dedicating himself to acting, he spent years running bars and nightclubs, and after serving in the U.S. Navy, he studied acting at Pace University. In the late 1980s, he began appearing in films, with supporting roles in 'Goodfellas' and 'Carlito's Way'. The turning point came in 1996 with the HBO film 'Gotti', where he played mobster Angelo 'Quack Quack' Ruggiero, which opened the door to 'The Sopranos'.
In the series, which aired from 1999 to 2007, Pastore portrayed Tony's close friend who secretly works with the FBI. His inner conflict, guilt, and fear of discovery marked the first two seasons, and the death of his character remains one of the most striking scenes in television history. Although the character was killed off, Pastore later returned in dream sequences and flashbacks. Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow Soprano, bid farewell with the words: 'He was a wonderful actor, kind and full of love. It was an honor to know you and work with you.'

During the filming of the musical 'Bullets Over Broadway', Pastore was treated for prostate cancer, but despite the therapy, he never missed rehearsals or performances. He is survived by his daughter Renee.
