A 45-year-old woman from the Čazma area has been left over €14,000 out of pocket after paying in advance for a car that was never delivered. She reported the case to the police, who are now conducting a criminal investigation against a 42-year-old man suspected of fraud.
According to the Bjelovar-Bilogora Police Department, the two parties agreed on the purchase of a passenger vehicle during 2024. The woman handed over the total agreed amount, exceeding €14,000, with the promise that the car would arrive within just one week.
However, there was no delivery. Instead of a car, she was met with months of waiting and a series of excuses.
Over the following months, the man kept assuring the woman that there were issues with the vehicle's import and registration, continually postponing delivery. After a prolonged back-and-forth, he completely stopped responding to her. The woman was neither refunded nor given the car for which she had set aside a significant amount of money.
After realizing she had been deceived, the 45-year-old reported the entire case to the police. The Bjelovar-Bilogora Police Department confirmed on Friday, August 7, 2026, that it is conducting a criminal investigation to establish all the circumstances of this incident.
