Dubrovnik has once again gained one of its most recognizable tourist symbols. The Hotel Villa Argentina, situated in one of the most beautiful locations overlooking Lokrum and the Dubrovnik city walls, welcomed its first guests in early August 2026. This marked the end of a nearly three-year period of closure and extensive renovation, which, due to its complexity, was delayed by approximately one year compared to initial announcements.
The complex, which includes Villa Argentina, Villa Orsula, and Villa Glavić, was closed in early October 2023. At that time, work began on a comprehensive reconstruction, with the initial expectation that the renovation would be completed during 2025. However, structural interventions on the historic buildings and numerous project modifications extended the opening until early August 2026.
Behind one of the largest investment projects in the portfolio of Adriatic Luxury Hotels stands the renowned Croatian architectural studio 3LHD, led by Marko Dabrović. The project aimed to preserve the historical value of the complex, built in 1913 as a private residence, while simultaneously adapting it to modern standards of luxury hospitality.
The renovation was not merely cosmetic. The restoration of the historic villas was carried out while preserving the original architectural style, and the new parts of the complex were designed to open up towards the sea and green areas. Great care was invested in the Mediterranean surroundings, enhancing guest privacy, and shaping new outdoor leisure zones. The interior design is inspired by Dubrovnik's cultural heritage, local stone, Mediterranean colors, and traditional motifs.
The renovated Villa Argentina now boasts 96 rooms, while the neighboring Villa Orsula offers 13 luxury accommodation units. Additionally, certain buildings are now connected into a unified complex, with discreetly designed passages leading to the beach and gardens. This allows guests easier access to all the complex's amenities, while the iconic panoramic views that have made this hotel a hallmark of Dubrovnik's luxury tourism for decades remain untouched.
Villa Argentina holds a special place in the history of Dubrovnik's tourism. Originally erected in 1913 as a private edifice, it became a top-tier hotel during the 1950s, hosting many world politicians, members of royal dynasties, acting stars, and other celebrities. After nearly three years of hiatus, it once again welcomes guests in a brand new incarnation that combines a century-old tradition with modern comfort.
