Memorandum of Understanding is signed today at Banski dvori, the plant is expected to employ 250 people and generate up to 80 million euros in annual revenue. Also on the government session agenda is the tax convention with the USA.
At Banski dvori today at 1:35 PM, a Memorandum of Understanding is being signed between the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Italian company Beretta Holding headquartered in Luxembourg, and private investor Ivan Kapetanović. This is a joint investment in the construction of a small-caliber ammunition factory in Obrovac, Zadar County, with a total value reaching 125 million euros, 023.hr reports.
According to the same portal, Beretta Holding will hold 50 percent plus one share in the project, while the remaining stake will be divided between the Croatian government and investor Kapetanović. The Italian company will be responsible for technology transfer, supply chain management, and establishing production lines. The plant is expected to start operations by mid-2029, and when fully operational, it will employ approximately 250 people and generate annual revenue between 70 and 80 million euros.
The signing of the agreement takes place as part of the 190th session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, held today at the National and University Library in Zagreb. Also on the agenda is the Draft Final Proposal of the Law on Ratification of the Convention between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the United States of America for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income, as well as the Protocol. The ratification process was initiated back in 2022, but was prolonged due to the position of the American side, Dnevno.hr reports.
The day before the session, on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, was marked by a series of other activities. Tonči Glavina posted on platform X: "We opened Daruvarske Toplice, a project co-financed with funds from #NPOO in the amount of nearly 13.2 million euros. This project, with a total value of over 20 million 💶, is part of the capital investments by @VladaRH aimed at the renewal and development of health and spa tourism across 🇭🇷."
On the same day, as announced by the Ministry of Defense, by government decision and based on an order from Defense Minister Ivan Anušić, a second Croatian Canadair CL-415 of the Croatian Air Force was dispatched to France. This involves a rotation of aircraft and crews, i.e., the continuation of engagement in fighting large wildfires as part of the rescEU mechanism.
