During his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Serbian president sharply criticized Montenegrin authorities for sending representatives to the 'Storm' commemoration, while police in BiH reported checks on suspicious individuals during his stay.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, that he expects further escalation of moves by Montenegrin authorities, assessing that their European agenda is based on anti-Serb sentiment. Meanwhile, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies (DKPT) of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed that his three-day visit to the country is proceeding as planned.
In an interview with TV Informer, Vučić did not mince words when commenting on relations with Montenegro, especially after the country sent its representatives to mark the Croatian military-police operation 'Storm'.
"As far as Montenegro is concerned, I expect things to get much, much worse. I expect them to behave much worse. I expect them to do many more things against the Serbian people, against the Serbian state, and against Serbia. Once that train starts moving, it cannot be stopped," Vučić said for TV Informer.
The Serbian president claimed that Montenegrin authorities have made a decision from which there is no return to normal relations. "They promised a lot, that they would act against Serbia. Their entire European agenda is based on anti-Serb sentiment and on acting against Serbia, and they will continue to do so," he added.
He specifically referred to the Democratic People's Party, thanking its members for not, as he put it, rejoicing in the "Croatian 'victory'." "Because there can be no victory when you kill your own civilians and when, with the help of the world's greatest powers, you settle scores with a part of your citizens," Vučić said.
In his address, Vučić emphasized that Serbia must not forget the suffering of its own people for the sake of bureaucratic goals. He cited the figure of 220,000 to 250,000 displaced persons.
"Should we be such hypocrites and, for the sake of our European future, renounce our own kin and not speak of the expulsion of 220,000 to 250,000 people, the suffering of thousands of people, both soldiers and civilians... Those people and their families are more important to us than any bureaucratic procedures or any desire to cater to someone who thinks they are very big and very powerful. Truth and honor, like shame, last forever, and you can only die once," Vučić said.
While these statements echo, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies (DKPT) of BiH announced that Vučić's three-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina is proceeding according to the established plan. DKPT Director Enes Karić said that all security measures have been agreed upon.
"We know who is in the delegation and who is in the security detail. A plan has been made, cooperation has been established on the territory of Republika Srpska (RS) with the RS MUP, and in the cantons with the cantonal MUPs," Karić stated, as reported by Sarajevo media.
Karić added that police officers conducted checks after receiving information about suspicious individuals in the area of the Central Bosnia Canton (SBK) during Vučić's stay in the village of Čipuljići near Bugojno on Monday, August 3, 2026. He confirmed that the situation has been resolved.
Sarajevo media earlier reported that police officers from Republika Srpska, who were unannounced in the territory of the Federation of BiH, told their colleagues from SBK that they had "lost their way" and subsequently left the area. According to the law, members of the RS MUP cannot enter the territory of the Federation of BiH without prior notice and agreement, nor can they independently carry out police duties. The RS MUP has not yet commented on the incident.
Vučić and the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, have spent the past two days together visiting municipalities in the Federation of BiH, and Sarajevo media today speculate that the RS police entered the Federation not because of Vučić, but to closely follow Dodik himself.
