The Biograd Police Station has completed a criminal investigation into two young men suspected of causing a fire in the Biograd area. Due to one reckless act, ground and aerial firefighters were mobilized, and criminal charges will be filed against the 21-year-old and 22-year-old.
According to police information, the two Croatian nationals are suspected of causing a fire on Čelinka hill in the Drago area by firing signal flares on July 31, 2026, at approximately 8:55 PM. The flames engulfed maquis, low vegetation, and grass.
Extinguishing the fire required the deployment of ground and aerial firefighting forces, including water-bombing aircraft. The exact material damage is still being assessed.
The criminal investigation established that their unlawful conduct met the elements of the criminal offense of Endangering Life and Property by a Generally Dangerous Act or Means, as defined in Article 215, Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code.
Upon completion of the investigation, criminal charges will be filed against both individuals with the competent State Attorney's Office in Zadar.
