Four men were injured in a knife attack in central London on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, after which police arrested a woman. The incident occurred in the Covent Garden area, and the injured were taken to hospital.
The Metropolitan Police received a report of an attack on Endell Street at approximately 12:27 PM local time. According to the BBC, the attack itself took place shortly after, around 12:30 PM. The four men sustained knife injuries, and sources differ on their ages: AP World News reports they were 34, 39, 42, and 52 years old, while SVT Nyheter reports men aged between 35 and 50.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told Sky News: "We treated four patients at the scene and then transported them by road, as a priority, to a trauma center."
Police arrested a 47-year-old woman at the scene. Sky News reports she is a woman in her forties, while SVT Nyheter gives the precise age of 47. The motive for the attack is currently unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
The incident was reported by numerous international media outlets, including Anadolu Agency. Radio station LBC also reported the hospitalization of four people.
Covent Garden is one of London's most visited neighborhoods. Although such incidents are not common in this part of the city, the event has once again raised questions about safety in popular tourist destinations.
