Police in Poreč have arrested a 74-year-old man suspected of attempting to kill a 69-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina in an apartment in the Poreč area. According to reports from Glas Istre, the attack occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at around 9:30 PM, and the suspect was taken into custody the following day.
The criminal investigation revealed that the 74-year-old behaved violently toward the victim and attempted to kill her with a bat. In the incident, the 69-year-old sustained minor physical injuries. Police have not disclosed details about the motive for the attack or the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
Police officers arrested the suspect, and he was brought to the detention unit of the Istria Police Department on the evening of August 7, along with a criminal report. He is charged with attempted aggravated murder of a female person. Police released information about the arrest on Sunday, August 9, after the investigation was completed.
