The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) in its report of August 19, 2026, warns drivers of numerous roadworks and extraordinary events on Croatian roads, with the biggest delays expected on the A3 motorway between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges. On the section from km 12+480 to km 15+300, due to roadworks, the carriageway towards Lipovac is closed, and traffic is being diverted two-way onto the carriageway towards Bregana, where two narrow lanes have been set up in both directions.
The roadworks will last until October 3, 2026, and HAK warns that with increased traffic density, queues and tailbacks may form, especially in the morning and afternoon hours, and throughout the day on weekends. Drivers are advised to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions and to allow extra travel time.
In addition to the aforementioned section, on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway, until September 1, 2026, drainage rehabilitation is underway on the section between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges towards Lipovac, from km 90+700 to km 93+800. At that location, traffic flows in two narrow lanes, and with higher vehicle density, especially on Fridays, congestion and queues may occur.
On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, traffic is also restricted to the driving lane on two sections. Towards Macelj, from km 17+500 to km 13+750 on the Krapina, Đurmanec section, and towards Zagreb, from km 6+700 to km 8+200 on the Trakošćan, Đurmanec section. Drivers are urged to be cautious and patient on these sections.
On the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići motorway, at km 411+100 between the Blato na Cetini and Šestanovac interchanges towards Dubrovnik, there is a passenger vehicle, and traffic is moving with a speed limit of 100 km/h. HAK does not provide details about the condition of the vehicle or any injuries.
On the DC1 state road Gračac-Knin, there are delays in the roadworks zone near Otrić, which further complicates traffic on that section. Drivers are advised to avoid traveling during peak traffic times or to use alternative routes where possible.
HAK's forecast for August 20, 2026, predicts increased traffic on city roads and bypasses, as well as on some motorway sections, especially in the morning and afternoon. On the northern Adriatic and in Gorski Kotar, roads will be wet and slippery in places, so drivers are urged to exercise extra caution.
Delays are possible on the Zagreb (A3) and Rijeka (A7) bypasses, on the A4 between the Popovec and Zagreb istok interchanges, on the Istrian Y (A8) from the interchange to the Učka tunnel, on parts of the DC1 state road, and on the Adriatic Highway (DC8) when entering tourist destinations. At border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, there will be waiting times for passenger and freight vehicles, while no problems are expected in maritime traffic.
