The Croatian Automobile Club warns of a traffic accident on the A7 motorway and increased traffic density on the A3, while numerous sections across the country are subject to temporary regulations and bans.
At the 29+700 kilometer mark of the A7 motorway, between the Orehovica and Rijeka Istok interchanges in the direction of Križišća, a traffic accident has occurred, causing traffic to move in two lanes with a speed limit reduced to 60 km/h. Meanwhile, the Croatian Automobile Club warns that on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac, where roadworks narrow the carriageway at several critical points, serious queues could form during the day, especially during peak hours.
Drainage rehabilitation between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges, from the 90+700 to 93+800 kilometer marks in the direction of Lipovac, has turned this section into a bottleneck with two narrowed lanes, and the HAK explicitly cites Friday as the day with the highest risk of congestion. Even worse, between Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb Zapad, from kilometer 12+480 to 15+300, the carriageway is completely closed in the direction of Lipovac, so traffic is moving in both directions through narrowed lanes, with congestion threatening throughout the day, especially during morning and afternoon hours and on weekends.
Other motorways are not spared either. On the A4 Goričan-Zagreb, between kilometers 95 and 91+800 in the direction of Goričan, traffic is moving in both directions through narrowed lanes with a speed limit of 80 km/h, while on the A2 Zagreb-Macelj, certain sections are reduced to a single lane. The Istrian Y (A8/A9) is also affected by construction works for the full profile, with traffic flowing in both directions on narrowed carriageways and auxiliary lanes, and in the area of the Limska Draga viaduct, passage is prohibited for exceptional transports wider than three meters.
On the state road DC1 near Drežnik Grad, drivers face a speed limit of only 30 km/h due to spilled cargo on the road. Due to wind, on the Adriatic Highway (DC8) between Bakar and Sveta Marija Magdalena, as well as on DC99 and local road LC58107, there is a ban on traffic for double-decker buses, motorcycles, and camper trailers.
More permanent restrictions are linked to damaged bridges: on DC42 in Hreljin Ogulinski, traffic is prohibited for vehicles over 15 tons, while the Erdut II (DC213) and Pribanjci (DC204) bridges cannot accommodate anything over 7.5 tons, and this will remain in effect until the end of 2026. Numerous sections of state roads are also completely closed, including parts of DC24, DC28, DC29, DC34, DC38, DC214, DC546, and DC547, with specific detours defined for passenger and freight vehicles.
Freight vehicles continue to face seasonal restrictions: in Istria and the coastal area, on certain state roads (excluding motorways and DC1), a ban for vehicles over 7.5 tons applies on Saturdays from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 11 p.m., until September 15.
Night hours also bring exceptional transports that occasionally halt traffic. On the A1 and A6, until August 12, there will be short stops lasting up to 15 minutes, and from August 11 to September 5, on the A1, transport will move from the ČCNP Karamatići to the Bisko interchange. On the A7, from August 11 to 12, the route runs from the Rupa interchange to the Učka (Matulji) interchange with a one-time stop of no more than 15 minutes. The most demanding operation takes place from August 11 to 13, from midnight to 5 a.m., on the route from the Bregana border crossing (A3) to the Goričan border crossing (A4), where two exceptional transports, each 98 meters long, will pass, with traffic being intermittently stopped with logistical support from the Ministry of the Interior.
