The Bosnian international is leaving Benfica to continue his career in the Premier League, with the transfer reportedly worth €35 million.
Bosnian international Amar Dedić landed at Newcastle Airport late last night, effectively finalizing the biggest transfer of his career. As reported by Klix.ba, the 23-year-old right-back will undergo medical examinations today and sign a contract with the English club.
According to Kurir, the transfer from Benfica to Newcastle is worth €35 million, with a sell-on percentage remaining with the Lisbon club. This means Benfica has finally accepted a serious offer from the English club, despite a desire in Lisbon to keep Dedić, especially after his very strong previous season.
Benfica coach Marko Silva spoke about the situation before the deal was completed and confirmed that Dedić will not be in the squad while the transfer is in an advanced stage.
"There is nothing official regarding Dedić, but he will not play as before. Until I receive instructions from the board, he would have been included in the match. Currently, he will not be in the squad, given that he has not been part of the preparations for the match and that negotiations are in an advanced stage," said Silva.
Dedić has already departed for England, and on that occasion, he declined to give statements to journalists. However, when saying goodbye to Benfica's supporters, he did not hide his emotions and briefly told those present that he loves them.
The move to Newcastle is seen as a significant step forward in the young player's career, who previously played for Salzburg and Marseille, and joined Benfica last summer. Now, a new challenge awaits him in the strongest English league, where he will join the ranks of Newcastle.
