Ante Palaversa, a 26-year-old midfielder once regarded as one of the most promising players from Hajduk's youth academy, may continue his professional journey at Olimpija Ljubljana. The news of a potential transfer was reported by the portal Planet Nogomet, citing foreign sources on social media, and was picked up by Index.hr and Sportklub.
In January 2019, Palaversa made a major transfer from Hajduk to Manchester City, who paid €6.3 million for him. He never made an official appearance for the English club, instead going on loan to Belgium's Oostende, Spain's Getafe, and Belgium's Kortrijk.
In August 2022, he left City permanently and signed for Troyes, a French club. After two years, he moved to Aberdeen in Scotland, where he played regularly and was part of the squad that won the Cup. So far, he has made 59 appearances for Aberdeen, scoring two goals and providing six assists. His contract with the Scottish club runs for another year, and according to Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated at around €550,000.
Olimpija has been going through a very unstable period in recent weeks. According to reports from Slovenian media, there has been talk of financial problems, staff departures, and disagreements between the club's management and some journalists. During the match against Celje, a very unusual thing happened: goalkeeper Matevž Vidovšek had to play in a training jersey because he didn't have the appropriate backup equipment.
The club later took responsibility for the oversight, but at the same time denied that the cause was unpaid bills to the sports equipment supplier. Despite all this, Olimpija's president Adam Delius announced that he will bring in new players before the end of the summer transfer window, and one of the candidates is Palaversa.
