On August 15, 2026, on the island of Krk, police officers from the Krk Police Station stopped six individuals from Austria who were riding enduro cross motorcycles. Among them were four adults aged 18 to 21 and two minors, as reported by Novi list.
Motorcycles Temporarily Seized Due to Suspected Technical Defects
Due to suspicion that the motorcycles had technical defects, i.e., that violations of the Road Traffic Safety Act had been committed, the motorcycles were temporarily seized. They were required to undergo an unscheduled technical inspection together with the police.
The extraordinary technical inspections revealed serious and dangerous issues, including faulty axles, tires, and wheels, illegal or unauthorized modifications, and malfunctions in the exhaust system, steering, brakes, and lighting.
Fines and Educational Measures Imposed
One Austrian national was issued a misdemeanor order under Article 6 of the Law on Misdemeanors against Public Order and Peace, and was fined 700 euros. The others were issued misdemeanor orders under the Road Traffic Safety Act, with fines of 260 euros each.
For the two minors from Austria, criminal charges were filed, and after the proceedings, the court imposed an educational measure of a judicial reprimand.
Older Misdemeanor Order Also Served
One of the Austrian nationals was also served a misdemeanor order for speeding committed last year in the area of the Labin Police Station. The police warn the public that avoiding the receipt of misdemeanor orders, notices of violations, or other official documents does not exempt one from responsibility for committed offenses.
