Last night, Split once again showed why it is known as a city that celebrates its athletes in a special way. At Zvončac, between Konoba Bovan and Po Baluna, an emotional welcome was held for two young water polo players from Split who returned from Zagreb with the world champions' title.

Golden Return from the World Championship

Tomo Bošnjak and Ante Domazet, members of the Croatian U-16 water polo team, won the gold medal at the World Championship in Zagreb. Their return to their hometown did not go unnoticed, and the welcome at Zvončac was organized ahead of the World Championship match at Skalina. The evening was made even more special as numerous tournament participants, tourists, and sports enthusiasts gathered at Zvončac to salute the success of the two young men.

As soon as they appeared, applause, singing, and a torchlight procession began. Friends, family, teammates, club representatives, as well as many guests and competitors, all gathered to pay tribute to the two young men whose success delighted the entire city nestled beneath Marjan. The atmosphere was filled with emotion, and torches burned in honor of the new world champions.

Club Stands Behind Its Champions

The welcome was also attended by many people who had followed their sporting development over the years. Vice-presidents Albert Pavlović and Dejan Savičević, head of the sports sector Anđelo Šetka, secretary-general Alen Brakus, and the coaching staff consisting of Mile Smodlaka, Boris Popović, and Vinko Rossi all appeared at the gathering. Together, they emphasized that this is a great moment for the club and for Split.

The world gold is not the result of just one match or one competition. It is the result of years of effort, daily training, sacrifice, successes and failures, coaches' guidance, and strong family support. And, of course, a love for water polo. This success further confirmed that Split continues to produce top-tier athletes who, through their work and dedication, bring pride to the entire community.
