Hajduk finally recorded two wins in one week. After celebrating against Žalgiris in Europe, the Whites also secured their first HNL victory, beating Gorica 2:1. It was anything but an easy away match for the Split club, saved by captain Marko Livaja with a goal in the 87th minute.
Hajduk took an early lead through Michele Šego, but a long period without clear chances followed. Gorica equalized from a penalty late in the game, but Livaja brought home the first league win of the season.
Balić: The coach has evolved over time
Hajduk's current affairs were discussed in the 19th episode of the podcast 'U rašlje', and regular guest, 'Hajduk heart' Vladimir Balić, reflected on the changes in the team and the coach's role.
"No! You have almost nothing new. You have two new wingers and the difference between little Šutalo and Almene, who was there last year... We'll put them on the same scale. Then Šotiček and Rebić. We have a similar squad, but we have a different philosophy. What they played last year has nothing to do with this. Not because some figures have changed. No, it's certainly not because of that, but the coach himself has evolved over time."
Balić emphasized that the key difference is not in individual names, but in the changed playing philosophy and the coach's evolution over time.
Financial story: Pirić and WhiteBit
The podcast also revisited the topic of finances, specifically the story about Ivica Pirić and the cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBit. Balić offered a balanced view of the whole situation.
"Whenever finances are involved and such big things are in play, of course a lot of media and public attention is generated. Ivica Pirić is a man who has his own business relationships and partners, Hajduk has its side of the story, its protocols and data protection for its members, which is also completely legitimate and understandable these days. It's hard from the outside to judge who is right and who is wrong until official documents are seen."
Balić pointed out that without access to official documents, it is difficult to assess who is right, and that both sides have legitimate arguments.
