Belčić Again Breaks Croatian Record in 3000m Steeplechase

Bruno Belčić, an athlete from Karlovac, has once again proven that the Belgian town of Oordegem suits him exceptionally well. At a strong international meeting in that city, he broke the Croatian record in the 3000-meter steeplechase once more, setting a new best time of 8:34.33.
According to Kaportal, the previous record, which was also in his possession, stood at 8:39.25 and was set last year at the same meeting. The new record is thus nearly five seconds faster than the previous one.
A total of 38 seniors and three juniors competed in the event, which is why the race was run in two heats, as reported by Radio Mrežnica. In his heat, Belčić finished 11th overall, or tenth among seniors. When the results of both heats are combined, he was also tenth in the final senior standings. Kaportal highlights that he secured a very good tenth place in the overall competition of 38 athletes.
This outstanding result comes just two days after Belčić's participation in the European Senior Championships was confirmed. Although he failed to run the required time at the Croatian Individual Championships, he was included in the national team for the event, which will be held from August 10 to 16, 2026, in Birmingham, England, as reported by Radio Mrežnica, citing author Gordan Tomičić.
As Kaportal reports, athletics fans are eagerly awaiting August 13, 2026, when Belčić will compete among the best European athletes.
