On an extremely busy stretch of road connecting Trogir and Kaštela, specifically from Trogir past the Split Airport area all the way to Kaštel Štafilić, a potentially very dangerous e-scooter ride was recently recorded. The incident was documented by a reader of DalmacijaDanas, whose footage clearly shows a series of concerning safety lapses.
The footage shows a person on an e-scooter moving directly on the roadway, on a road used daily by a large number of cars. What is particularly worrying is the complete absence of a protective helmet, as well as the lack of visible lights on the scooter. Such behavior poses a serious risk, especially on a stretch where car speeds are significantly higher than the scooter's speed.
The speed difference between vehicles and the scooter creates extremely dangerous situations during sudden braking, overtaking, or any other unforeseen event. In such conditions, the scooter rider is exposed to a high risk of severe injury.
Although e-scooters have become a common mode of transport in many Dalmatian cities in recent years, their use on busy roads requires a high level of responsibility. This footage once again raises the question of safety not only for scooter users but also for all other road users.
Due to their size and lower speed, scooters are often hard for car drivers to spot. When you add riding without lights, especially in conditions of reduced visibility, the risk of a traffic accident increases dramatically. Riding without a protective helmet in such circumstances can have the most severe consequences.
The footage from this busy stretch between Trogir and Kaštela serves as a serious warning to all drivers to pay extra attention to scooter users, but also as an appeal to scooter users themselves about the necessity of following basic safety rules.
