Police in Nedelišće stopped a 21-year-old driving a car with Čakovec license plates without a valid driver's license.
Police officers from the Čakovec Police Station stopped a 21-year-old man in Nedelišće on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 2:10 AM, who was driving a passenger car with Čakovec license plates. The traffic control was conducted on Čakovečka Street, and after checks, the young man was arrested and taken to the police station.
The checks revealed that the 21-year-old was driving without a valid driver's license. He also refused to undergo testing for the presence of alcohol in his system. During the course of their duties, the police also discovered that he did not possess an ID card or any other document that would allow his identity to be established.
Instead, he provided the police officers with false identity information. Due to violations of the Road Traffic Safety Act and the Identity Card Act, the 21-year-old was required to pay a fine totaling €3,050, as reported by Radovan Gačal for Medjimurje Press.
In addition to not being authorized to drive, the young man's refusal to take a breathalyzer test prevented authorities from determining whether he had alcohol in his system. Providing false identity information further complicated police procedures, leading to his arrest and transport to the station for further criminal investigation.
The total fine of €3,050 covers all identified offenses, and the case was recorded during the night hours during routine traffic surveillance in the Međimurje town of Nedelišće.
