Former US President Joe Biden, who turns 83 next month, has completed a course of radiation therapy to treat an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The news was reported on Saturday by CBS News, citing his spokesperson Kelly Scully.

However, a much darker picture of the Democratic politician's condition emerged the same day from his son. "The cancer has spread, metastasized to the bones and beyond," Hunter Biden said in an interview with BBC's Newsnight program. "It's very painful and very exhausting in many ways."

Biden first publicly revealed his diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer in May 2025, less than four months after leaving the White House. At that time, it was announced that the disease had already spread to the bones. In October of the same year, his spokesperson confirmed that the former president was undergoing radiation and hormone therapy.

The completion of radiotherapy comes as the family and the public grapple with the weight of Hunter's words. Biden's spokesperson, for the 83-year-old, declined to comment on his son's statements on Saturday.
