In the Facebook group Police Stop, Bjelovar and Surroundings, a post by Katarina, a resident of Bjelovar, drew significant attention after she accidentally damaged someone else's vehicle and decided to publicly find its owner. Her honesty and willingness to take responsibility sparked numerous positive reactions, as reported by Klikni.hr.
Child Ran Toward the Road, Door Hit Neighboring Car
The incident occurred in the parking lot next to the Bjelovar library, near the electric vehicle charging station. Katarina explained that her child suddenly ran toward the road, so she quickly opened her car door to stop the child. In doing so, the door hit the vehicle parked next to hers, according to Bjelovar.live.
The damage is located above the rear right wheel, and as she noted, it might be harder to see in the dark.
Left a Note, Then Posted in the Group
She left a note on a piece of paper for the owner of the damaged car, but since it was raining, she feared the paper would get wet and become unreadable. That's why she decided to share the same message in the Facebook group, hoping the owner would see it and contact her.
"I want to apologize once again for damaging your car with my door about half an hour ago in the parking lot near the library (...)", she wrote in the post, as reported by Bjelovar.live.
She added: "Maybe the damage is a bit harder to see now because of the dark, but it's above the rear right wheel."
Fellow Citizens Delighted
Supportive comments quickly began to pile up under the post, and it also gathered hundreds of likes. "That's how a conscientious and honest person behaves, hats off!" wrote one commenter, while another summed up Katarina in one word: "Hats off... in one word.. LADY.."
Katarina did not seek praise nor did she run from responsibility. She admitted what happened and did everything to find the owner of the damaged vehicle, and it's precisely such gestures that are worth noting, concludes Bjelovar.live.
