Portal Index.hr issued a public call on Sunday for citizens to record and send to the editorial team videos of dangerous driving, speeding through residential areas, drifting in parking lots, or overtaking columns via the emergency lane and across solid lines, which they encounter almost daily on Croatian roads.
Materials should be sent to [email protected], with the mandatory subject line "Traffic Violence," and the video should be accompanied by the location and time of the incident, a brief description of the event, and a note about any desire for anonymity. The editorial team announces publication in installments and will seek police statements for each individual case.
The call came after Index published a series of disturbing videos sent by readers over the past months, and in several cases, it was the media publication that prompted a police response.
From Pelješac, for example, a video shows a BMW driver who, in just a few minutes, overtook other vehicles twice across a solid line, or double solid line. On the same stretch near the Pelješac Bridge, a Ferrari driver was also recorded improperly overtaking a column across a solid line.
In Kaštel Gomilica, a car drifted just a few meters from the beach and a nearby café, performing dangerous maneuvers in close proximity to pedestrians, while in Zagreb's Knežija neighborhood, an 18-year-old was driving a BMW and drifting right next to residential buildings.
Zagreb's Slavonska Avenue was the stage for a 29-year-old who drifted a Ford Mustang in the middle of a wedding procession. At the end of July 2026, a video from a reader on the A1 motorway arrived, a car overtook a column of vehicles via the emergency lane at least three times.
Index has previously published other videos of dangerous driving, including a motorcyclist speeding through city streets, indicating the widespread nature of the problem across Croatia.
