Dinamo president Zvonimir Boban sent an emotional congratulatory message to the fan group on its jubilee, while the club prepares for its Champions League match against Viking.
The GNK Dinamo fan group, Bad Blue Boys, is celebrating 40 years of existence, and on this occasion, club president Zvonimir Boban sent a special congratulatory message. The message was published on the club's official channels and is reproduced in full below.
"To you, without whom nothing is the same, for 40 years, nothing has been the same! To you, who have never stopped loving and living in blue, not for a single second of your lives, not for a single second of any match. To you, because of whom we have the Dinamo we have dreamed of for years. In tradition, in rebellion, always your own, forever Dinamo's! Happy Birthday, Purgeri! Happy Birthday, BBB group! Dinamo Zagreb above all, Dinamo Zagreb above everyone! Zvone Boban," the message reads.
The relationship between Boban and the Bad Blue Boys has lasted for decades and is unbreakable. It began back in the 1990s when Boban, as Dinamo's captain, struck a policeman and defended the fans during a match against Red Star. According to Index.hr, the incident occurred on May 13, 1990, during the riots that led to the match being abandoned.
After Zdravko Mamić fled to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Boban was a vocal supporter of the club's democratization, and following the first democratic elections, he became president of Dinamo.
On Tuesday, August 18, at 9 PM, Dinamo will host Norwegian side Viking FK at Maksimir in a bid to advance to the league phase of the Champions League. The club announced via its official Twitter profile that the North Lower, West Lower, and West Upper stands are sold out.
Tickets remain available for the North Upper stand at €12 for members and €17 for other fans. A portion of the match proceeds will be donated to help those affected by the wildfires in the hardest-hit areas of Croatia.
