The Croatian Athletics Federation announced its final national team roster on Friday for the 27th European Athletics Championships, which will be held in Birmingham from 10 to 16 August. Among the 16 travellers is Bruno Belčić, a member of the "Karlovac" Athletics Club, who will compete in the 3,000 metres steeplechase.

According to Karlovački, Belčić secured his place based on the world ranking list. In a field of 34 athletes in the 3,000 metres steeplechase, the Karlovac native is ranked 33rd, which was enough to earn him a trip to Birmingham.

From Bloudek to Belčić: Who's Going

Besides Belčić, head coach Damir Bošnjak will have 15 more athletes at his disposal. According to Jutarnji list and Sportske novosti, the team leaders are Marino Bloudek, a finalist at the World Indoor Championships over 800 metres, and former Olympic javelin champion Sara Kolak. Alongside Kolak, Vita Barbić will also compete in the javelin, arriving in Birmingham straight from the World Junior Championships in Eugene.

Also on the list are heptathlete Jana Koščak, Paris Olympic finalist Filip Pravdica (long jump), as well as Marko Čeko (long jump), Nina Vuković (800 m), Marija Tolj (discus), Magdalena Perić and Paola Borović (triple jump), Karlo Marciuš (200 m), Veronika Drljačić (400 m), Natalija Švenda (400 m hurdles), Ivan Geronimo Šarić (pole vault) and Matija Gregurić (hammer).

Without Elkasević, Eight Golds in the Trophy Cabinet

Sandra Elkasević is not on the list this time. She has held the European discus title for a full 16 years and is now passing it on. Croatia's most decorated female athlete has decided to take a break this season, so she will not go for an eighth consecutive continental gold.

Croatian Athletics Federation president Ivan Veštić will lead the delegation, and alongside head coach Bošnjak, the trip to Birmingham includes technical director Ozren Čučković, physician Marko Jakopović, physiotherapist Matija Rajnović and nine coaches, among them Saša Belčić, father and coach of Bruno Belčić.
