Summary
  • HAK reports traffic accidents on A1, A3, and A7 with speed limits ranging from 40 to 80 km/h.
  • Queues are forming on A3 toward Lučko (4 km), on A2 before Trakošćan (1 km), and on A4 in the roadworks zone (1 km).
  • Roadworks on A3 will last until September 1 and October 3, 2026, with narrowed lanes and two-way traffic.
  • For August 18, wet roads, rockfalls in the highlands, and increased traffic at borders with BiH, Serbia, and Montenegro are forecast.

A traffic accident on the A3 motorway between the Popovača and Križ exits, in the direction of Bregana, has forced drivers to reduce their speed to 80 kilometers per hour. At the same time, a queue approximately 4 kilometers long has formed at the approach to the Lučko toll plaza, coming from the direction of Buzin. In its report dated August 17, 2026, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) also warns of a number of other extraordinary events.

On the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići motorway, an accident occurred between the Prgomet and Vučevica interchanges in the direction of Dubrovnik. Traffic there is moving at a maximum permitted speed of 60 kilometers per hour. On the A7 Rupa-Križišće, an accident was recorded at the Orehovica interchange, on the exit ramp for Sušak in the direction of Križišće, where traffic is moving at a speed limit of 40 km/h.

Queues at Toll Plazas and Roadworks

Increased traffic toward the coast has created queues at several locations. On the A2 motorway from Zagreb to Macelj, just before the Trakošćan toll plaza, in the direction of Zagreb, a vehicle queue extends for about 1 kilometer. On the A4 motorway from Goričan to Zagreb, at the approach to roadworks at the 91st and 800th meters, between the Popovec and Zagreb East interchanges, a queue of 1 kilometer has been recorded.

Roadworks are further slowing traffic on the A2 Zagreb-Macelj. Traffic is limited to the driving lane on sections from 17+500 to 13+750 km in the direction of Macelj, on the Krapina-Đurmanec section, and from 6+700 to 8+200 km in the direction of Zagreb, on the Trakošćan-Đurmanec section.

Drainage Rehabilitation and Closed Carriageway

On the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway, until September 1, 2026, drainage rehabilitation works are underway on the section from the Popovača interchange to the Kutina interchange, in the direction of Lipovac, from the 90th and 700th meters to the 93rd and 800th meters. Traffic there is moving in two narrowed lanes. Also on the A3, until October 3, 2026, the carriageway in the direction of Lipovac is closed between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb West interchanges, from 12 km + 480 to 15 km + 300.

Traffic is moving in both directions on the carriageway in the direction of Bregana. On the state road DC1, traffic is slow in the roadworks zone between Gračac and Knin near Otrić. On DC113 Supetar, traffic is moving under temporary traffic regulation due to a traffic accident.

Forecast for August 18

For August 18, 2026, HAK forecasts wet and slippery road surfaces in the interior. In the highlands, a greater risk of rockfalls is expected, and restrictions due to the bura wind are possible, especially in the area below Velebit. At border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, increased passenger car traffic is expected.
