The health condition of four life-threatening patients injured in the recent fire in the Omiš area remains critical, with surgical procedures planned in the coming days, the Split University Hospital Center (KBC Split) reported on Monday.

Eight Most Severely Injured Distributed Across Three Hospitals

According to Slobodna Dalmacija, the fight for life of the eight most severely injured continues. Four patients are currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of KBC Split, three patients are at the Sisters of Mercy University Hospital Center in Zagreb, and one person is at KBC Zagreb (Rebro).

Kristina Bitanga, spokesperson for KBC Split, told Hina that there have been no significant changes in the health condition of the four life-threatening patients and that surgical procedures are planned in the coming days.

"There have been no significant changes in the health condition of the four life-threatening patients injured in the fire in the Omiš area, and surgical procedures are planned in the coming days," Bitanga stated.

Seven Less Severely Injured Recovering

In addition to the most severely injured, seven less severely injured patients are recovering across several hospital departments. Bitanga explained that treating patients with severe burn injuries is extremely demanding and long-term, requiring intensive care, continuous multidisciplinary monitoring, and multiple surgical procedures performed in stages.

"Given the nature of the injuries, treatment and recovery will take a longer time, and significant changes cannot be expected on a daily basis," said the spokesperson for KBC Split.

She added that the public will be promptly informed of any significant changes in the patients' health condition and treatment progress.
