The Zagreb Police Department released details on Tuesday about a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday, August 8, in the Sesvete city district, and issued an urgent appeal to all potential witnesses. At the intersection of Bjelovarska Street, Ninska Street, Zagrebačka Road, and Varaždinska Street, around 10:20 PM, a collision occurred in which a pedestrian was injured.
According to initial information, the driver of a black Honda Civic was involved in the accident. It is not yet known from which directions the car and the pedestrian were traveling immediately before the impact, and the police did not specify the severity of the injuries sustained by the pedestrian in their statement. The identities of those involved have also not been released.
Why Witness Testimony Is Crucial
Since everything happened in the late evening hours at a busy intersection, even seemingly minor details could be of vital importance to investigators. The testimony of someone who noticed the position of the car after the collision, the direction the pedestrian was walking, or the state of the traffic light could help reconstruct the entire event.
Citizens who recorded the accident or its aftermath with their mobile phones or dashcams and have not yet spoken to the police are especially urged to come forward. Even a partial memory, when compared with other physical evidence and surveillance footage, could be of great assistance.
How to Contact the Police
Anyone with any relevant information can contact the competent police department at 01/6333-470 or the general police number 192. When reporting, it is advisable to provide the exact time and location of the observation and describe what they saw as precisely as possible.
The police appeal to all drivers, passengers, and passersby who were near this intersection in the eastern part of Zagreb on Saturday evening not to overlook information that could help shed light on the case.
