Despite high summer temperatures, the season on Dubrovnik's city walls is passing calmly, with dehydration being the most common issue. The Red Cross regularly steps in with water and refreshments.
A summer walk along Dubrovnik's city walls often becomes a real physical challenge due to the high temperatures. Tourists may find themselves dehydrated during the tour and in need of medical assistance, but Red Cross teams are on duty throughout the season precisely for such situations, JUGInfo reports.
Maro Kapović, president of DPDS, emphasizes that serious injuries on the walls are quite rare. "Despite the high temperatures, the season so far has passed without major emergencies. The most common reason for field teams to react is dehydration. This usually happens when visitors set off on a long walk along the walls around noon or one in the afternoon without appropriate clothing and without enough fluids. In such moments, the Red Cross usually steps in, with its staff providing refreshments and handing out water to those who feel unwell," Kapović pointed out.
Regular daily and monthly reports show that the number of interventions in the first seven months of 2026 has been minimal, which is excellent given the exceptionally high number of visitors. No serious injuries or major incidents have been recorded on the walls, and the relevant services express hope that this safe and peaceful trend will continue until the very end of the tourist season.
Dubrovnik's city walls are currently recording excellent results. According to available data, July 2026 saw better results than last year, with Kapović noting a three percent increase in visitor numbers compared to the same period last year.
