Croatia is currently facing extremely high temperatures that have been above 30 degrees Celsius for several days, and the heatwave is still ongoing. However, according to forecasts, a sudden weather change is expected as early as Monday, bringing a long-awaited cooldown.
Today will continue to be sunny and hot, with some areas experiencing very hot conditions. According to the detailed forecast prepared by Kristina Klemenčić Novinc from DHMZ, Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem will see mostly sunny and very warm weather. Only in the interior of Dalmatia are local showers possible during the afternoon.
For four regions, including Zagreb, Karlovac, Gospić, and Dubrovnik, a heatwave warning remains in effect. Today's maximum temperatures will reach up to 36 degrees Celsius.
A heatwave warning has been issued for the Zagreb region today. Temperatures will reach 35°C, and DHMZ warns of potential health risks, especially for the elderly and young children.
The scorching asphalt and high UV index are prompting residents and tourists to exercise maximum caution. Doctors are reiterating calls for mandatory protection: wearing hats, light clothing, applying sunscreen, and avoiding direct sun exposure during the middle of the day.
As early as Monday, the weather will change. A passing cloudiness is expected, bringing rain and showers with thunderstorms, and in some areas, the showers could be more intense. On Monday, maximum temperatures will mostly range between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius.
Gradually increasing cloudiness from the northwest, mainly in the afternoon and evening, with rain and showers accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the northern Adriatic and western parts of the interior, possibly more pronounced. On land, the wind will be mostly moderate from the north and northwest, and during instability, it could be strong with gale-force gusts. In the Adriatic, a weak to moderate southerly wind will turn to another direction by midday.
