GNK Dinamo Zagreb advanced to the third qualifying round of the Champions League after eliminating Swiss side Thun. Now, as Večernji list reports, the Blues await the winner of the clash between Faroese KI Klaksvik and Lithuanian champions Kauno Žalgiris.
The first match, played in the Faroe Islands, ended without a winner - 0-0. The return leg is scheduled for tomorrow, July 29, 2026, and will decide who will face Dinamo on their path to the group stage of Europe's most elite competition.
A familiar face on the Žalgiris bench
Kauno Žalgiris is led from the bench by Croatian coach Željko Sopić, and according to Večernji list, his squad includes two Croatian players, Ivan Fiolić and Leon Kreković. It is precisely this connection that adds extra appeal to a potential clash with Dinamo.
Regardless of who advances, Večernji list emphasizes that Dinamo is a superior team by all parameters and that they await the continuation of the qualifiers with optimism.
In the meantime, the official Twitter profile of the Zagreb club (@gnkdinamo) celebrated their advancement with emotional messages. First, they asked fans: "Have you missed Dinamo...? 💙", and shortly after added: "...so you forever remember who Dinamo is and where the city of Zagreb is! 💙"
