GNK Dinamo has officially confirmed that Raúl Torrente is leaving on a one-year loan to French club Le Mans, the newly promoted side in Ligue 1. The news was announced on Wednesday, and the 24-year-old Spanish center-back will continue his career at the club that has returned to the top tier of French football after a 16-year absence.
Dinamo bid an emotional farewell to Torrente on social media:
"Our Raúl Torrente will play in Ligue 1 for the next year, with Le Mans, where he goes on a one-year loan with an option to buy. Dear Raúl, thank you and good luck in France!"
Torrente missed most of last season due to a cruciate ligament injury sustained in May 2025 during a match against Hajduk at Poljud. After a clash with Marko Livaja, he landed awkwardly and suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. He was sidelined for more than nine months, returning only at the end of last season against Lokomotiva.
He has yet to feature this season, although he was on the bench in the first round against Slaven Belupo. Coach Mario Kovačević now has Scott McKenna, Sergio Domínguez, Niko Galešić, and Stjepan Radeljić at his disposal in the backline, along with young Marko Zebić.
Torrente joined Dinamo in the summer of 2024 on a free transfer from Granada and quickly established himself in the starting lineup. He made 30 appearances for the Zagreb club, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He particularly shone in Dinamo's Champions League match two years ago.
Le Mans finished second in Ligue 2 last season with 62 points, five fewer than champions Troyes, thus securing their return to Ligue 1 after 16 years. Torrente will seek consistency and continued development in the French league.
Meanwhile, Dinamo is preparing for the 4th round of the SuperSport HNL match against Varaždin, scheduled for Saturday, August 22, at 9 PM at Maksimir Stadium. Tickets for the West lower stand are €15 for members and €20 for other fans, while the North lower stand is exclusively for members at €7.
After that, Dinamo travels to Norway in pursuit of a win that would secure a place in the Champions League, as the club has stated.
