Three Croatian clubs face decisive playoff matches for spots in European group stages, with fans able to follow the action on various television channels.
Fans of Croatian football clubs will have their hands full over the next ten days or so keeping up with European matches. Dinamo, Rijeka, and Hajduk enter decisive playoffs for group-stage berths, with broadcasts available on four different television channels.
Zagreb's Dinamo faces Norwegian side Viking in the final hurdle on the road to the Champions League. The first leg of the playoff takes place at Maksimir on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, kicking off at 9 PM. Fans should note a channel change compared to previous qualifying rounds: RTL broadcast the matches against Thun, and MaxSport aired the Kauno Žalgiris ties, while the first match against Viking will be shown on Arena Sport 1, the Champions League rights holder.
For viewers without a subscription, great news comes for the return leg scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Norway. In addition to Arena Sport, this match will also be available on HRT, meaning everyone in Croatia can watch it for free.
Ahead of the first leg, Dinamo used their official Twitter account to urge fans to fill the stadium: "Tomorrow, all as one, from the pitch to the stands! A memorable Maksimir evening awaits, and tickets are only left for the North stand up top - call your parents, neighbors, friends... let's fill that stand too and write history together!" Tickets for members cost 12 euros, while other fans pay 17 euros.
Unlike Dinamo, Rijeka and Hajduk are battling for a spot in the Conference League. Rijeka's two matches against Denmark's Midtjylland will be shown on MAXSport 1, available via MAXTV. This keeps Rijeka on the channel where they usually follow SuperSport HNL matches. The first leg takes place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 7 PM, with Rijeka away in Denmark. The return match at Rujevica is scheduled a week later, on August 27, 2026, at 8:45 PM.
Hajduk from Split continues broadcasting on their club television. Fans can watch both playoff matches against Poland's Raków on HDTV, also available to MAXTV subscribers. The first leg is at Poljud on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 9 PM. The return match takes place a week later in Częstochowa, Poland.
Before the European challenges, Dinamo also marked a special anniversary. Former Croatian footballer and club ambassador Zvone Boban congratulated the fan group BBB on their 40th anniversary: "To you, without whom nothing is the same - for 40 years, nothing has been the same! To you, who never stopped loving and living the blue - not for a single second of life, not for a single second of any match. To you, because of whom we have the Dinamo we dreamed of for years. In tradition, in rebellion - always your own, forever Dinamo's! Happy Birthday Purgeri! Happy Birthday BBB group! Dinamo Zagreb above all, Dinamo Zagreb above everyone!"
