Dinamo defender Raul Torrente (24) will no longer wear the blue jersey. According to Sportske novosti, the Spanish centre-back is heading to French club Le Mans, which is competing in Ligue 1 this season, on a one-year loan. The same source is confirmed by 24sata, which also reports that Torrente is on his way out of the club.
Torrente joined Dinamo in the summer of 2024 from Spanish side Granada. In the blue jersey, he made a total of 30 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. However, his time in Zagreb was largely marked by a serious knee injury he suffered in May last year during the derby against Hajduk.
In a duel with Marko Livaja, Torrente landed awkwardly, and medical examinations confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. This was followed by a long rehabilitation and nearly a year out of action. Before the injury, he had an important role in the team and started most matches from the first minute.
His return to the pitch came only after the end of last season, when he got a chance in the match against Lokomotiva. However, at the start of the new season, coach Mario Kovačević did not give him any playing time. Torrente was among the substitutes in the league clash with Slaven Belupo but did not come on, which hinted that Kovačević did not count on him seriously.
With his departure, coach Mario Kovačević will have four "main" centre-backs at his disposal: McKenna, Domínguez, Galešić, and Radeljić. But defensive options do not end there. According to Sportske novosti, young Marko Zebić is also available for the first team, having already shown he is not behind the seniors. Torrente will thus seek a new opportunity to regain form and prove himself in French Ligue 1, although there were earlier speculations that he could be loaned to Rudeš.
Le Mans, the club Torrente is joining on loan, earned promotion to the top tier of French football last season after a full 16 years. They finished second in Ligue 2 with 62 points, five fewer than champions Troyes. Torrente will thus spend the next season among the best French clubs, where he will try to regain consistency and continue his development.
