Last night's drama on Stepinčeva Street ended with the arrest of a 42-year-old man who injured an employee, a guest, and two police officers. Investigation is ongoing.
A true nightmare unfolded last night at a café on Stepinčeva Street in Stobreč, where a 42-year-old man caused chaos by smashing furniture, attacking those present, and threatening to kill everyone. Riot police, who were nearby providing security for a public gathering, quickly responded to a citizen's report, but he did not spare them from resistance and insults.
According to the police report, the incident began when the man, a café patron, threw a glass behind the bar. When an employee warned him to calm down and leave the premises, the 42-year-old attacked him and punched him. Guests who tried to defuse the situation and protect the employee also became his targets, and one of them was punched.
When riot police officers arrived, the scene was terrifying. Guests were running out of the café, and inside they found scattered furniture, broken glass on the floor, and a heavily built man punching the bar and shouting threats: "He was yelling that he would kill everyone." Cuts were already visible on his head and hands.
The officers issued a clear order for him to stop disturbing public order. He ignored it, picked up a glass from the bar, threw it on the floor, and then assumed an aggressive stance with clenched fists toward them. Due to the immediate danger, force was used against him.
During the apprehension, the 42-year-old actively resisted, attempting to punch and kick the officers. He continuously cursed and threatened them. In this chaotic intervention, two police officers sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.
Eventually, he was arrested and, due to visible cuts on his head and hands, taken for a medical examination. Doctors determined he had minor injuries, but he did not calm down there either. He continued his threatening behavior toward one of the officers accompanying him.
An on-site investigation was conducted, and the 42-year-old is currently at the police station. A criminal investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances of this violent outburst.
