Parking in Dubrovnik Increasingly Difficult

Finding a free parking spot near Dubrovnik's historic core during the summer months has become almost a lottery. Even drivers willing to pay high prices often end up without a spot, forcing them to continue their search further from the Old City.
At the Pile parking lot during the summer months, the first hour costs 20 euros, with each subsequent hour at 10 euros. However, despite the expensive rates, this lot is mostly full during the peak of the summer season, so drivers often have to continue their search elsewhere, as reported by JUGInfo.
The situation is similar at the cable car parking lot and at Buža. Anyone who has tried to drive near the Old Town during the summer is well aware of how long it can take to find a parking spot.
When drivers are asked where they actually managed to find a parking spot, the most common answers lead to Gradac Park or the area from Sveti Jakov towards the Old City. But even there, a free spot is not guaranteed. Some drivers leave their vehicles near Ilijina glavica or even further from the center.
That's why many Dubrovnik residents, as well as visitors, decide during the summer to leave their cars at home and head to the Old City by public transport. This is often not only more practical but also a significantly less stressful solution.
In Dubrovnik's summer crowds, it's not enough to have money for parking; you also need a fair amount of luck to even find a spot.
