Drones Strike Gazprom Complex

In the Russian city of Salavat, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a fire broke out in the industrial zone on Thursday, August 13, 2026, following a drone attack. The head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, confirmed that debris from one of the drones fell into the industrial zone of Salavat, where the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refining complex is located, as reported by UNIAN Ukraine.

Khabirov stated that defense forces are repelling the drone attack, and that "debris from one of them fell into the industrial zone of Salavat." A fire broke out at the impact site, and emergency services are on the scene, he added.

One of Russia's Largest Oil Complexes

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is one of the largest oil refining complexes in Russia. According to data cited by Ukrainska Pravda, the facility processes about 10 million tons of oil annually. The city of Salavat is located approximately 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine, indicating the deep reach of the attack.

The Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported a direct hit on the oil refinery in Salavat, while the ASTRA channel, citing local residents, reported smoke in the area of the enterprise. Earlier, a drone threat had been declared in Bashkortostan.

Series of Attacks on Russian Oil Infrastructure

This is not the first time Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat has been targeted. According to UNIAN, the complex had already temporarily suspended operations in mid-July 2026 following an attack by Ukrainian drones. Two days earlier, on the night of August 11, 2026, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian defense forces had struck the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in the Orenburg region.

Attacks on Russian energy infrastructure have intensified during the war that has been ongoing since 2022, targeting key facilities for fuel supply and financing military operations. At the time of publication, there was no official information about possible casualties or the extent of damage at the Salavat facility.
