Dominko Radić, a Dubrovnik-based sea rescuer known for numerous successful rescue operations, posted on Facebook asking for a boat roller. In an interview with Dubrovački vjesnik, he explained that this piece of equipment would significantly ease his work of pulling people in distress out of the sea.
"I need a roller for my boat that I would attach to the stern. I have a 'gradac' boat, and it would greatly facilitate rescues because I could pull a person out more easily," Radić told Dubrovački vjesnik.
He particularly emphasized the importance of this equipment in light of a recent rescue where, as he notes, firefighters played a crucial role.
"In the last rescue, had it not been for the firefighters, I'm not sure the person would have survived. They were already quite red, and the fact that they were transported to Split says it all-they were in a life-threatening condition," Radić recounted.
Radić is known for responding to calls for help immediately, often before official services arrive. As described in accounts of his actions, when someone falls from the city walls, he comes with his boat, doesn't ask questions, just saves, and as soon as the emergency services arrive, he disappears.
His readiness to help knows no bounds or weather conditions. "I'll sail from Lastovo in any weather, I have experience! And I'll train the younger ones!" the Dubrovnik rescuer stated.
Radić hopes someone can help him find a roller for his boat. "If there's a way to find a roller, it would be a great help," he concluded.
