Police officers from the 2nd Police Station in Rijeka arrested two 18-year-olds on Friday, July 31, 2026, suspected of burglaries in the Pećine area. A report from citizens about an ongoing burglary came in around 4:20 PM, prompting officers to respond immediately.
According to police information, the suspects noticed the arrival of officers and attempted to flee the scene. Their escape was short-lived, as they were apprehended not far from the location where they were found and were quickly taken into custody.
The criminal investigation established that the two young men had broken into two apartments that same day, with one burglary remaining an attempt. A criminal report will be filed against the 18-year-old suspects with the competent state attorney's office.
Meanwhile, the Zagreb Police Department reported a grand theft in the city center. An unknown perpetrator broke into the apartment of a 57-year-old woman between July 25 and August 2, 2026, stealing money and jewelry. The material damage is estimated at several thousand euros. A criminal investigation is underway to find the perpetrator.
