On Friday, July 31, 2026, police officers from the II Police Station Rijeka brought in two 18-year-olds on suspicion of burglaries in the Pećine neighborhood. It all began around 4:20 PM when citizens reported a burglary in progress, and the police responded immediately.
According to the police, the young men noticed the arrival of official vehicles and attempted to flee the scene. However, they were quickly apprehended nearby, where they were arrested.
Following the criminal investigation, it was established that they had broken into two apartments that same evening, while a third burglary remained only an attempt. Criminal charges will be filed against the suspects with the competent state attorney's office.
Meanwhile, the Zagreb Police Department reported a grand theft in the city center. An unknown perpetrator broke into the apartment of a 57-year-old woman between July 25 and August 2, 2026, and stole money and jewelry. The damage is estimated at several thousand euros, and the police are conducting a criminal investigation to find the perpetrator.
