Koprivnica police recorded two traffic violations overnight involving electric scooters that do not meet the requirements for participation in traffic on Croatian roads. Both cases involve 16-year-olds whose vehicles, models Kukirin G2 Max and Kukirin G4, were temporarily seized.
According to the report from the Koprivnica-Križevci Police Department, the first minor was stopped on Sunday at around 9:45 PM on Stari Brežanec Street. He was riding a Kukirin G2 Max electric scooter, and an inspection revealed that its motor power exceeds the legally permitted 0.6 kW.
Just a few hours later, at five minutes past midnight, another 16-year-old was stopped on Školska Street. He was operating a Kukirin G4 model, whose motor power also exceeds the technical limits prescribed for this category of vehicle.
The police once again reminded the public of the clear rules: only electric scooters with motor or electric drive without a seating position, whose engine displacement is not greater than 25 cm³ or whose continuous electric motor power does not exceed 0.6 kW, are allowed to participate in traffic. An additional condition is the maximum speed the vehicle can reach on a flat road, it must not exceed 25 kilometers per hour.
"Participation in traffic is allowed for electric scooters with motor or electric drive without a seating position, whose engine displacement is not greater than 25 cm³ or whose continuous electric motor power does not exceed 0.6 kW, and which cannot reach a speed greater than 25 kilometers per hour on a flat road," the Koprivnica police stated.
Both minors will face misdemeanor proceedings for violating the Road Traffic Safety Act. Their electric scooters have been temporarily confiscated. The police also warned all citizens, especially parents, to pay attention to the technical specifications of scooters when purchasing, as riding models that are too powerful or too fast carries a fine of 130 euros.
"Let us remind you once again, not all electric scooters can participate in traffic on Croatian roads, and parents and anyone else buying scooters should take this into account. Scooters that are too powerful and too fast are prohibited, and riding such a vehicle carries a fine of 130 euros," the police said.
