In the town where the final combat operations of Operation Storm concluded, the 31st anniversary was marked with numerous veterans and families of the fallen. Wreaths were also laid by the state envoy, Deputy County Prefect Mihael Jurić.
With the laying of wreaths and lighting of candles, the 31st anniversary of the end of the Military-Police Operation Storm was marked in Dvor on Monday, August 10, 2026. This is one of the key actions in Croatia's recent past, which resulted in the liberation of a significant part of the occupied territory and secured the independence and sovereignty of the state.
Dvor, which was the scene of the final battles during Operation Storm, holds a special place in the history of the Homeland War. This area was among the last to be liberated during that crucial operation of the Croatian Army.
The commemoration was attended by numerous Croatian veterans, both men and women, as well as families of fallen, missing, and deceased Croatian defenders, along with representatives of the municipality and other guests. On behalf of the state leadership, wreaths were laid by Deputy County Prefect Mihael Jurić, who was the envoy of the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković.
On this occasion, Jurić emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the Homeland War and the sacrifices made by Croatian soldiers.
Today, with deep respect, we pay tribute to all Croatian defenders who laid down their lives for the freedom we now enjoy. Their courage, solidarity, and devotion to the homeland represent lasting values that we must pass on to younger generations. Operation Storm was a historic moment that restored the territorial integrity of the Republic of Croatia by reaching the Croatian border, as was the case in Dvor, and it is our duty to preserve the truth about these events and express gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for Croatia
said Jurić.
As a sign of gratitude and eternal remembrance, wreaths and candles were laid for all fallen, missing, and deceased Croatian defenders who contributed to the creation of a free Croatia.
