Enrique After Super Cup: PSG Wants All Six Trophies

Paris Saint-Germain won the UEFA Super Cup last night with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in Salzburg. The Parisians thus became the first club to defend the title in this competition since Real Madrid, who achieved this feat in 2016 and 2017. PSG coach Luis Enrique didn't hide his satisfaction, nor his ambitions, after the match.

Enrique Praises Team's Character

Enrique told UEFA that his team showed what they are made of. "We knew before the match that it would be tough. But we managed to play like this because my players showed what they are made of," said the Spanish tactician.

He added that the form isn't at its peak yet, but that winning the trophy is a confirmation of the club's identity. "We might not be in the best physical shape, but this is another real demonstration of our DNA and the support of our fans, who have helped us win trophies and maintain high standards," he said.

Doué: The Main Goal Is to Win Everything

PSG player and one of the match's key figures, Désiré Doué, emphasized that the team thinks only in a winning mindset. "Our mindset is to always win and be as competitive as possible. We are very happy. We know it's not easy when you've just returned from a break, but we've put things in their place. The main goal is to win everything this season," Doué stated.

PSG has thus secured the first of a possible six trophies this season, and Enrique's message to the competition is clear: the Parisian club wants it all.

Emery Proud Despite Defeat

Aston Villa coach Unai Emery wasn't overly disappointed after the narrow loss. "There is still work to be done, but we showed that we are getting closer to the level of a great team. The team felt they could compete with PSG, and that's what matters most to me. I wanted this trophy, but given how we played, the chances we created, and the quality of our individuals, I am very proud of the players," Emery said.
