The world premiere of the black comedy 'Virus of Pathological Kindness' at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival drew significant attention, with regional theatrical release expected in November.
The immense audience interest at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival has led to an additional screening for the new film by director and screenwriter Predrag Ličina. The film is a satirical science-fiction comedy 'Virus of Pathological Kindness', whose world premiere will take place on August 19, 2026, and due to demand, another opportunity for viewers has been scheduled.
The main screening will be held as part of the Open Air program at the UNIQA Summer Cinema Stari Grad, which can accommodate over 900 viewers. Due to high interest, the organizers have added a second date, August 21 at 8 PM in Hall 7 of Cineplexx Sarajevo.
The plot of this black comedy, the region's first satire about time travel, is set in Zagreb in 1983. The story begins when, in the middle of a snowy night, a naked man bursts into the apartment of Zorka Vasiljević. He claims to come from the future, specifically from 2031, with a mission to prevent a pandemic of the virus of pathological kindness that threatens humanity. Although Zorka initially thinks he is a fraud, his predictions soon begin to come true.
The screenplay is written by Ličina himself and is based on his short story of the same name from the collection 'Bljuzga u sumrak' (Slush in the Twilight), published by Jesenski i Turk in 2022.
The leading roles are played by Hristina Popović as Zorka Vasiljević and Nikola Đuričko as Luka Radivojević. Other roles include Gordan Kičić (Zigi Vasiljević), Tihana Lazović Trifunović (Militiawoman Sutjeska), Goran Bogdan (Militiaman Bogdan), and Rade Šerbedžija (Slobodan Novak).
This Serbian-Croatian co-production, produced by Đorđe Vranješ, was filmed in Pančevo over three shooting weeks. Theatrical distribution in Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro is expected in November 2026.
