On Monday, August 10, Dubrovnik's old city harbor becomes the stage for a water polo spectacle. The Wild League final between Porporela and FUN H2O Mlini will be broadcast on national television for the first time.
The finals of the Dubrovnik bathing spots water polo championship, popularly known as the Wild League, will take place on Monday, August 10, 2026, in Porto, the old city harbor. The program starts at 4:00 PM, culminating in the grand final at 5:45 PM between Porporela and FUN H2O Mlini. This will be a historic day for the competition, as the final will be broadcast live on Sports Television for the first time, in addition to the usual broadcast on HVS TV, the YouTube channel of the Croatian Water Polo Federation.
Before the main event, at 4:00 PM, Bellevue and Elita will face off in the third-place match. Elita is chasing its 12th medal in the league's history, so far, they have been champions twice, runners-up three times, and bronze medalists six times. On the other hand, Bellevue is one step away from their first medal, adding special excitement to this match.
After the bronze match, the audience can look forward to an exhibition game featuring the City and County team, led by County Prefect Blažo Pezo and City Council President Marko Potrebica, against the Dubrovnik Summer Games team. The Games team will feature familiar faces, Maro Martinović, Goran Grgić, Goran Višnjić, and Zrinka Cvitešić. Both teams will also be bolstered by water polo names such as Miho and Alen Bošković, Dragan Medan, Paulo Obradović, and Nikša Dobud.
FUN H2O Mlini enters its ninth final with the chance to write new pages in Wild League history. If they win, they will become the first team with three consecutive titles and the first with a total of five championship titles. So far, they have a record of four wins and four losses in finals, and they have also won one bronze. By simply reaching the final, they have secured their tenth medal.
On the other side of the pool stands Porporela, a team making its ninth final appearance with three wins and five losses in previous finals. What sets them apart is an incredible collection of eight bronze medals, making them the richest team in terms of total medals. A victory in the final would secure their 16th medal and a fourth championship title, tying them with FUN, Copacabana, and Kupalište ispod kina Slavice at the top of the all-time list.
The final day will be officiated by Neno Periš, who also refereed the quarterfinal and semifinal matches. In earlier stages of the competition, numerous trophy-laden names of Croatian water polo took on the refereeing role: Elvis Fatović, Nikša Dobud, Paulo Obradović, Maro Joković, Ivo Begović, and Vjeko Kobešćak.
The ceremonial announcement of the most successful teams and individuals will take place on the steps of St. Blaise, approximately 45 minutes after the final ends, no earlier than 7:15 PM. This atmospheric moment is expected to round off another edition of Dubrovnik's unique sporting spectacle.
