The Federal Police Administration (FUP) has released details of a major police operation codenamed "Veja," carried out in the Drežnica area near Mostar. Following months of targeted and complex operational work, information was gathered about several locations where Cannabis sativa L. was being cultivated, leading to this operation.
The released bird's-eye view footage shows how carefully and strategically the cultivation sites were chosen. The growing areas were located on very difficult-to-access, hilly and mountainous terrain, surrounded by dense forest, rising above the river canyon.
The video clearly shows narrow clearings within the dense vegetation, which the suspects used to better conceal their crops from passersby and the police. The drone also captured numerous police officers who had to navigate challenging terrain to secure the sites and remove the plants.
Acting on an order from the Municipal Court in Mostar, FUP police officers conducted a search of a house and its surrounding land. During the search, a total of 1,679 Cannabis sativa L. plants were found and seized across 12 separate plantations, further testament to the scale of the illegal operation.
Two individuals are suspected in connection with these activities: B.E. (born 1974) and K.S. (born 1972). The police operation has concluded, and investigative actions regarding the suspects continue under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, with sources citing different names for the competent authority. Klix.ba reports it was the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, while Stijena.info reports the County Prosecutor's Office of the Herzegovina-Neretva County. The difference in naming is likely terminological, but sources have not reconciled it.
