Manchester United has firmly closed the door on all clubs interested in Bruno Fernandes. British media report that Galatasaray is preparing an offer of up to €50 million including bonuses, but United has made it clear that they will not negotiate the sale of the Portuguese international at any price at this time.
Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek is personally involved in the attempt to bring Fernandes to the club, and the Turkish side is ready to offer him a four-year contract with a net salary of around €21 million per season. Including a signing bonus, the total value of that package would reach approximately €88 million, not including additional individual bonuses. However, Manchester United has yet to receive an official offer.
People close to the club emphasize that Fernandes is not for sale at any price, and any bid from Galatasaray would be rejected. According to BBC Sport, Juventus and AC Milan are also monitoring the situation, but the Italian giants have no reason for optimism either.
Fernandes has entered the final year of his current contract, but United has an option to extend it for another season. The clause that allowed foreign clubs to sign the player for a fixed fee expired last month, with that release clause set at £57 million. Interested clubs can no longer trigger that fixed amount; they would have to get approval from the board, which is unwilling to give it.
The Portuguese has not yet signaled to United's hierarchy that he wants to leave Old Trafford. According to available information, the player would prefer to stay, but a new contract agreement has not yet been finalized.
Fernandes also faced the possibility of leaving Manchester United last summer. Saudi club Al-Hilal offered him a very lucrative contract, but the Portuguese turned it down and stayed at Old Trafford. He later said he was hurt that the club gave the impression they might sell him.
He responded on the pitch with a stellar season. Last season, Fernandes set a new Premier League record with 21 assists, was named Player of the Year, and was once again voted Manchester United's best player. He is expected to be a leading candidate for the PFA Player of the Year award for the 2025/26 season, with the ceremony set to take place next week in Manchester.
Bruno Fernandes was greeted with loud support from fans during the pre-season friendly against Leeds in Dublin. That reaction once again highlighted his importance to United supporters. The club's board knows that selling him would cause great discontent, especially if they couldn't prove they did everything to keep their leader.
If the board does not change its stance, Galatasaray, Juventus, and AC Milan will have to look for alternative solutions.
