Speedboat Crashes into Krk Shore: Two Injured Transported to KBC

Two people were injured on Saturday evening in a maritime accident on the island of Krk, where a speedboat struck the shore. The report was received at 23:51 at the MRCC Rijeka, and according to information from the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, it involved a fast boat carrying two Croatian nationals.
The accident occurred on the southwestern part of the island, between the beaches of Sveta Fuska and Torkul. After being evacuated from the boat, the injured were taken over by the Krk Emergency Medical Service at 00:08 and transported for further treatment to the KBC Rijeka. The report was forwarded to the National Center for Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination by a local company specialized in providing commercial assistance to vessels and crews at sea, whose employees were closest to the accident site and transported medical personnel to the victims.
As announced by the ministry, the employees of the aforementioned company were explicitly "ordered to embark medical personnel, whom they then transported to the accident position" by the MRCC Rijeka. Police officers who had arrived at the scene by land were already on the shore.
Officials from the Port Authority of Rijeka and police officers who arrived at the scene by land conducted a preliminary investigation. It was determined that the vessel was flying the Croatian flag and measured 9.26 meters in length. The vessel sustained damage to its bow in the impact but was not taking on water. At the time of the accident, the boat's owner, a Croatian citizen, was not on board.
No pollution of the sea or marine environment was observed. The speedboat will be removed at the owner's expense and towed to a designated location. The Port Authority of Rijeka and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department are conducting further investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
During Friday and Saturday, four more people were rescued in the area under the jurisdiction of the Rijeka Port Authority. The bura wind was carrying two people on kayaks from Voz Bay on Krk toward the open sea. One person was rescued from a SUP board after drifting out to sea in front of Njivice, and a similar situation occurred near Klenovica, where the bura was carrying a person on a SUP board from the camp toward the open sea. All were rescued without injuries and returned to their starting points.
The Port Authority of Split also had its hands full. In the Kaštela Bay, two people on a single SUP board who found themselves in a dangerous situation were rescued and returned to shore unharmed. Near Murter, a person fell from a vessel during navigation but was pulled from the sea without injuries. A private inflatable boat without a crew continued to drift uncontrolled and struck the shore of the islet of Sustipanac, between two moored vessels, but did not hit them, and no sea pollution occurred. The causes of that accident are being investigated by the Port Authority of Šibenik.
During the same period, the Port Authority of Split also conducted four MEDICO operations, in which a total of seven patients were transported from Brač and Hvar to the city port of Split by emergency medical transport boats.
