The fifth day of the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival was marked by the arrival of a Hollywood star, with numerous film crews from the region walking the red carpet.
Tuesday evening brought the most excitement at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival. American actor Woody Harrelson appeared on the red carpet, where he was greeted by Croatian actor Goran Višnjić. The two embraced warmly in front of gathered photographers and the audience, joined by festival director Jovan Marjanović.
Harrelson's arrival caused great enthusiasm among those present. Among the guests on the red carpet were also Emira Nušević Nuhić, Alisa Čajić, Vinko Brešan, and Šejla Kamerić.
The crew of the film "Balkanika - Tamna strana" appeared on the festival square, led by director Marin Mamuza and screenwriter Luka Mamuza. They were joined by actors Ana Ursula Najev, Mirvad Kurić, Damir Kustura, and Irfan Ribić.
In front of the National Theatre, the crew of the film "Skriveni ljudi" gathered: Slovenian director Miha Hočevar, screenwriter Luka Marčetić, producers Danijel Hočevar and Jelena Mitrović, and actors Olafur Darri Olafsson, Blaž Šef, Ana Urbanc, and Barbara Ribnikar.
Vinko Brešan, a member of the jury for the Special Award "Perspektive mladih", spoke about the rich production of films for young people.
"I watched films intended for young people and dealing with young people. At times, some films are very harsh, difficult, and distressing. They speak about how the perspectives of young people are constrained in today's world. On the other hand, films for children give us wonderful hope. You know, it won't be easy for me to decide among such a colorful and rich production with good ideas," Brešan told Klix.ba.
Director Miho Hočevar explained how he used humor to comment on social injustices.
"I found it interesting to draw people in with the first shot to follow the film. As a young man, I looked at things through entertainment, but I also noticed some wrongs, some misdeeds, and so on. Since I am a small man, I couldn't solve things with force, so I solved them with humor. That carried over into my creative work," Hočevar said.
Director Blerte Basholli, whose film "Dua" has its regional premiere tonight, spoke about the challenge of balancing a difficult past with the energy of youth.
"It was hard to find a balance between a difficult past and the energy of youth. I myself went through that experience, similar to what you saw here. I wanted to film and show everything we went through. It's important to me. You have my heart," Basholli said.
The film "Skriveni ljudi" will be shown in the Open Air premiere program at Uniqa Ljetno kino Stari Grad starting at 8:45 PM. The regional premiere of "Dua" takes place at the National Theatre at 7:00 PM as part of the Competition Program for feature-length fiction film.
As part of the In Focus program at 3:30 PM, the film "Obećani prostori" was screened. Its crew includes director Ivan Marković, producers Jasmina Sijerčić and Jelena Radenković, and director of photography Katharina Hauke.
Director Basholli also appeared on the red carpet with producer Valon Bajgora and actors Pinea Matoshi and Kushtrim Hoxha. The evening was rounded out by journalist and director Lejla Zvizdić with her husband Haris Zvizdić.
